0Welcome to the newly updated composers section which will help furnish you with a working knowledge of 26 famous composers and perhaps you can impress your friends with your quiz knowledge and/or help you pass music exams.

We will soon be adding more composers so look out for updates on the website.

This section is not intended to provide comprehensive information on composers but simply to whet the appetite and give a basic knowledge to build on. The links to Wikipedia and Naxos will add much extra information but the accuracy of these sources cannot be guaranteed.

There are five quizzes which feature sound samples to test your new knowledge and we have have also included 2 'drag-quizzes' which requires you to drag information into chosen boxes. We hope you find them useful and enjoyable. Please access these from the left column menu.

The link boxes in the left column are separated into the five grades as they appear in the mini-courses throughout the website. Grieg and Joplin have been added recently and are not yet included in quizzes. We hope to add many more composers to the collection  and also create a 20th Century section including Jazz.

Grade 1 is largely of the  'baroque' era

Grade 2 features composers from the 'classical' era

Grade 3 is more concerned with the early 'romantic' period

Grade 4 resides more in the heart of the 'romantic' period

Grade 5 delves into the late romantic and 'impressionist' era
